API cost versus GPU rental by token volumeAPI costs rise with token volume; GPU rental is a fixed budget with throughput assumptions.

Dashed GPU segments have unverified throughput or exceed the entered benchmark capacity. Hardware does not scale automatically.

Using the results

Check the cost and the capacity.

Token volume and time periods

The chart uses combined input and output tokens per selected period, with separate API prices for input, output and cached input. A month is 30 days / 720 hours. Switching periods keeps average hourly usage constant.

GPU billing and throughput

GPU rental covers a configured setup. Higher token volume does not automatically add hardware. Dashed lines show unverified throughput or demand above the benchmark limit you entered.

Use input and output speeds from the same representative benchmark. Limits depend on the token mix and active processing hours; latency, context length and concurrency still need checking. Processing-only billing excludes startup, warmup and billing rounding.

Making a fair comparison

Compare task quality as well as cost. Include billed reasoning tokens in output. Check memory for model weights, runtime and attention caches, plus host RAM, networking, availability and operating effort.
